Introduction to Cabinet OS ME

Cabinet OS ME is an Operating System which allows you to more efficiently organize your programs.

Cabinet also comes with a variety of extra features and is updateable. These features will be described later in this document.

Getting Started

When you first start Cabinet you will see a title screen.

[Title Screen]

After you press enter you will be at the Registration ID# input screen. You will need to go to the system information part of this document to obtain the Registration ID number. Then you just type in the number and you will be at the desktop. To learn more about the desktop go to the next section of this document.

The Desktop at First Glance

After you enter the Registration ID number you will be taken to the desktop. If you have already entered the Registration ID number you will be taken straight to the desktop. The desktop has a task bar and a background that is stored in pic1. If the background pick is turned on it will be displayed if the background pic is turned off nothing but the task bar will be displayed. To learn more about the background pic see Background PIC.

Note: The Background pic is by default turned off.

Using The Menus

To access the File Menu press the Y= Button. To access the APPS Menu press the Window Button. To access the Progs Menu press the Zoom Button. To access the Utilities Menu press the Trace Button. To Start the Screen Saver before the Automatic Screen Saver clock gets to 0 press the Graph button.

Note: The Automatic Screen Saver clock is by default set to 60 milliseconds.

The very last cell/folder name to the right is the Automatic Screen Saver clock. The Automatic Screen Saver clock shows the time left until the Screen Saver is automatically activated.

You can get from one menu to the other by pressing the corresponding button that is explained above. If you are in a menu and you want go jump straight to the desktop just press clear. You can do this on any menu in the OS only. If you are in another program started by the OS you can't do this. Example: if you ran a program in the apps or the utils menu you would not be able to jump straight to the desktop from any of its menus. The same goes for the programs in the progs menu.

To run one of the programs/utilities installed on the OS just press the corresponding number on the left side of the name. Example: 1. Calendar I would press the number 1 to start the App Calendar in the APPS menu.

You can chang the screen saver clock time setting by going to the file menu and then to options and then to screen saver. Follow the on screen instructions. Below is a pictur of the screen saver.

Registry Backup

The Registry Backup allows you to mack one backup of your registry and when nessasary restor it. This comes in handy when you play games that messes with the martix [C] which is the registry for Cabinet OS ME.

To use the Registry Backup Utility you run the program from the Utilities Menu and follow the instructions below.

Restoring a Backup

To use the restore feature you will need to obtain the DS # (Drive Image Number) form Steven King. You just type in the DS # when you are asked for it and that is it. The program will varify that it is a valid backup and will not restore the registry if you have a update file on your calc or that you have some how obtained the bypass code to bypass the Reg ID # screen. It also will not restore if the backup is not a valid backup. It will also varify if the curent registry need to be replaced with a good backup but if it is a good curent registry you will need to obtain the bypass code from Steven King and you will need a vary good reason for needing it. In most cases you will probably get the bypass code. Below are a few pic of this utility.

Creating a Backup

To make a backup of your curent registry all you need to do is select to option Make a Backup from the menu and then supply the Reg. ID # that is curently in use and that is it you will then be returned to the desktop and the backup will be made.

Registry Defaults

The Registry Defaults Utility is a feature that will restore all the default settings to the system registy just like the registry delete utility (Explaned Later) but it will not delete the Reg. ID # and make you re-type it in to continue using it.

To use it just run the utility and conferm that you want to restore the default settings. The registry will be checked to make sure that the registry is good and if the registry is bad it will be completely deleted and if a backup way made the backup if good will be restored but you will need to enter the Reg. ID #. Cabinet will restart to begin using the default settings.
